Warranty: JCB Professional Power Tools
This Limited Warranty (the “Warranty”) is provided by Genpower Ltd (JCB Tools) (“Genpower”, “Genpower Ltd”, “JCB Tools”, “we”, “us”) for its professional range of power tools, batteries, and chargers (each a “Product”).
This Warranty applies only to new JCB Power Tools UK Professional Range Products purchased in the United Kingdom from an authorised JCB Tools reseller or purchased directly from us.
This Warranty is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under UK consumer law, including (without limitation) the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Your statutory rights remain fully enforceable regardless of this Warranty.
Warranty periods
- JCB Professional Power Tools: 3-year limited warranty from the date of original purchase
- JCB Professional Batteries and Chargers: 2-year limited warranty from the date of original purchase
- Products used for hire: 90-day warranty from the date of original purchase
Warranty start and registration
Your Warranty automatically starts from the date of purchase. Online registration is not required to activate your standard Warranty.
JCB Tools reserves the right to introduce product registration for any potential future extended warranty offers beyond the current 3-year tool or 2-year battery/charger terms.
What this Warranty covers
This Warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship that are present at the time of purchase or that develop within the applicable warranty period under normal use.
Normal use means use in accordance with the Product’s instruction manual and intended applications.
If a Product is found to have a defect covered by this Warranty, JCB Tools will, at its sole discretion, either:
- Repair the faulty Product free of charge, or
- Replace it with a new or reconditioned Product of equivalent or superior specification
A replacement Product may be a later model.
What this Warranty does not cover (exclusions)
This Warranty does not cover issues or failures resulting from any of the circumstances below.
This list is not exhaustive. We reserve the right to consider additional components or factors not listed below when assessing a warranty claim.
Fair wear and tear
Damage caused by normal use over time, including (without limitation) components subject to natural wear such as carbon brushes, bearings, chucks, SDS drill bit attachments, power cords, auxiliary handles, sanding plates, dust bags, filters, seals, O-rings, and other service items or consumables.
Accidental damage
Damage resulting from external events including (without limitation) dropping the tool, impacts, crushing, or liquid damage.
Misuse or improper operation
Including (without limitation):
- Use contrary to instructions and warnings in the Product instruction manual
- Overloading the tool beyond its specified capacity or intended use
- Connection to an improper power supply (e.g., incorrect amps, voltage, or frequency)
- Use of non-approved accessories, parts, or consumables not manufactured or recommended by JCB Tools
- Use of non-genuine, third-party batteries or chargers not supplied by JCB Power Tools or an authorised dealer/reseller
Improper maintenance, repairs, or servicing
Damage resulting from inadequate, incorrect, or neglected maintenance as outlined in the Product instruction manual. Failures caused by repairs carried out by an unauthorised repair agent will void the Product’s Warranty.
Alterations or modifications
Products that have been altered, modified, adapted, or partially/fully dismantled without prior written authorisation from JCB Tools.
Defaced or removed identification
Products where original identification markings (such as the trademark, serial number, or date code) have been defaced, altered, or removed.
External influences
Damage caused by external factors such as water, chemicals, extreme physical shocks (beyond normal operational use), or the presence of foreign substances.
Non-compliant items
Use of accessories, batteries, attachments, or similar items that are not compliant for use within the UK, where such use leads to damage of the Product.
Products purchased used or second-hand
This Warranty applies only to Products purchased new from an authorised JCB Tools reseller (or directly from us). It does not cover Products acquired used, second-hand, rebuilt, or reconditioned.
Accessories
Items included or sold separately as accessories (e.g., drill bits, saw blades, sanding paper, or cases not supplied as standard with the tool) are not covered by this Warranty and cannot be included as part of a warranty claim.
Slight deviations
Minor deviations from the specified quality that do not materially affect the value or functionality of the Product.
Making a warranty claim
Please contact us first to make a claim under this Warranty. Our contact details are shown at the end of this document.
- One of our advisors will try to diagnose the issue and may provide initial troubleshooting over the phone.
- If the issue cannot be resolved remotely, we may arrange collection of the unit for inspection and testing, or at our discretion refer your repair to a local service agent.
- If the issue is deemed to be a warranty failure, we will cover the cost of collection and re-delivery to UK mainland locations. For the Highlands and Islands, we may request a contribution towards carriage costs.
- If the issue is deemed not to be covered by this Warranty (including due to the exclusions above), transportation, handling, workshop costs, labour, and parts costs will be chargeable to you.
- We will require:
- A copy of your proof of purchase, and
- The Product serial number and/or batch code (tool, battery, or charger)
- It is your responsibility to ensure the item is packaged safely and securely. We recommend keeping the original packaging for this purpose.
- Once repairs are complete, we will arrange return delivery at our cost. Highlands and Islands deliveries may incur a surcharge to cover additional transport costs. For the Channel Islands, it is usually more cost-effective for the customer to send the unit to the mainland; we can then collect and return it to a designated mainland address as normal.
Remedies: repair or replacement
If a defect covered by this Warranty is confirmed by JCB Tools (Genpower Ltd), the Product will be repaired free of charge or replaced, at JCB Tools’ discretion. Any Product or parts replaced under this Warranty will become the property of JCB Tools.
A repair or replacement under this Warranty does not extend or renew the original warranty period. The warranty period runs from the original purchase date.
Loan tools are not provided during the repair process. This Warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser.
This Warranty remains valid only where the Product has received preventative maintenance and servicing in accordance with the manufacturer’s documentation, using recommended consumables where applicable.
